Nilaveli

The eastern coastal town of Trincomalee has a 30 km-long beach to its north. The renowned Nilaveli Beach, which has every characteristic of an island paradise, is located in the middle of the strip. At Nilaveli, guests can choose between a relaxing seaside vacation and a jam-packed itinerary of activities. The popular Pigeon Island, which receives its name from the blue rock pigeons that breed there, is located just a few hundred meters offshore of Nilaveli Beach.

In addition to swimming and fishing at Red Rocks Bay and Kuchchaveli, the coral reefs make snorkeling and scuba diving two popular sports. Along with the well-known historical sites in Trincomalee, there is an older structure at Tiriyaya called a vatadage that belongs to the 7th or 8th century and is said to hold a relic of Buddha's hair.
